About Bethany Naef Ammon-
Bethany Naef Ammon, a mezzo-soprano from Jackson, Mississippi, is in
her final year of studies at the University of Southern
Mississippi. After spending a year abroad in France, Ms. Ammon will
soon complete degrees in music and in French. At USM she has been a
part of the Southern Chorale, USM’s premier touring vocal ensemble
for four years with whom she sang at Carnegie Hall in New York City
and Disney Hall in Los Angeles. As well Ms. Ammon participated in
many productions with the Southern Opera and Musical Theater Company
including La Traviata, West Side Story (Graziella), Tango Valentino,
Carmen, Company (Sarah), The Merry Widow (Madame Maxime, Praskovia),
and most recently as Sarah in Samuel Barber’s A Hand of Bridge. This
July Ms. Ammon travels to Rome, Italy to participate in Operafestival
di Roma, a month long opera program where she will perform the role
of La Principessa in Puccini’s Suor Angelica.
Ms. Ammon is the student of Dr. Maryann Kyle at the University of Southern
Mississippi. She is the daughter of Lorie Naef and Ted Ammon of Jackson.
Her maternal grandparents are the late Richard W. and Jane Ellen Naef; her
paternal grandparents are Gerry W. Ammon and the late U.T. Ammon.
Ms. Ammon will be performing two concerts in the Jackson area in order to
raise money so that she may participate in the Opera Festival in Rome.
The concerts are free and open to the public, although a love offering will
be taken. Those who would like to contribute, but who cannot attend either
