About Billy Trotter -
A native of Knoxville, TN, Billy Trotter received his BA degree from
Carson-Newman College and his MMus degree from George Peabody College,
with post-graduate studies at Peabody and Christ Church Cathedral in
Oxford, England. Currently he is the organist at Northminster Baptist
Church and Assistant Professor Emeritus at MS College where he taught for
32 years.
Trotter has played recitals throughout the southeast, including the
dedicatory recital in the 1st Baptist Church of Jefferson City, TN
(home of Carson-Newman College), where the organ was named in honor
of his former teacher, Ersa Davis.
Billy and his wife Annette have two sons. Mark lives in North
Carolina and Donny lives in Clinton. Billy has been organist at
Northminster for 29 years, where he continues to teach privately.
He also has served as Dean of the Jackson Chapter of the American
Guild of Organists, and has been a resource for many churches in
Mississippi who needed advice on the purchase of a new organ. His
influence in the organ world of Mississippi is enormous.
