ORGAN DEDICATION AT ST. PHILIP'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH, NOVEMBER 3, 2002 Following choral evensong David O'Steen, the parish musician, played a short recital, opening with the Bach Prelude and Fugue in Eb (St. Anne). A group of three choral preludes followed: "Vom Himmel Hoch", by Pachelbel; Flor Peeters' "Wachet auf"; and "Adoro te devote", by Gerald Near. The program closed with Dupre's Cortege and Litanies. Although I enjoyed everything, I especially liked the Peeters work, where the cantus firmus was in chords played on reeds. The recital succeeded well in showing off the versatility of the organ, which had served St. James' Episcopal Church for many years, before its removal to St. Philip's, where it was rebuilt by David Finch.
